What causes black streaks on Orlando roofs?
The dark streaks running down so many Central Florida roofs are a hardy algae called Gloeocapsa magma. Carried by wind and fed by our heat and humidity, it spreads across shingles and tile, holds moisture against the roof and makes an otherwise nice home look neglected — and it’s a common reason for HOA notices.
Pressure washing a roof is the wrong fix. High pressure can strip shingle granules, crack tile and cause damage that shortens your roof’s life. KraziKleen soft washes roofs instead: low pressure and a cleaning solution that kills the algae at the root, so the streaks come off and stay gone longer than a rinse-only clean.
Why soft wash roof cleaning beats pressure washing
Safer for your roof, and longer-lasting results.
Shingle- and tile-safe
Low pressure means no stripped granules, cracked tiles or forced-in water under your roofing.
Kills algae at the root
The cleaning solution treats the growth itself, so streaks don’t come right back after the first rain.
HOA-ready results
A clean, even roof that clears up the most common curb-appeal and HOA complaints.

Roof cleaning FAQs
Is soft washing safe for my roof?
Yes. Soft washing uses low pressure with cleaning solutions, which is the method roofing manufacturers recommend. High-pressure washing can strip granules and void warranties, so we never use it on roofs.
What are the black streaks on my roof?
They’re a hardy algae called Gloeocapsa magma. Soft washing kills it at the root, so it doesn’t simply grow back the way it does after a rinse-only clean.
Do you clean tile roofs as well as shingles?
Yes. We soft wash both shingle and tile roofs with low pressure, so the surface gets clean without cracking tiles or lifting shingles.
How much does roof cleaning cost in Orlando?
It depends on the roof’s size, pitch and material. We give a free quote up front. Call (321) 239-8496 or request one online.
Do you guarantee the results on my roof?
Yes. If any black streaks are still showing once the roof has dried, we’ll come back and re-treat those areas at no charge.
