Why fences turn green and gray

Can you get the green algae off my white vinyl fence?
Almost always. The green and black film on vinyl is growth sitting on the surface, not a permanent stain. Our soft wash dissolves it and brings the white back without scrubbing every panel by hand.
Do you clean vinyl, wood and aluminum fences differently?
Yes. Vinyl and aluminum can handle a slightly stronger soft wash. Wood gets a gentler, lower-pressure clean so the surface doesn’t fuzz and the grain stays intact.
Is pressure washing safe for an older wood fence?
Only at low pressure. High pressure can splinter aging wood, so we soft wash it instead. That removes the gray weathering and mildew while protecting the grain and any stain that’s left.
Can you make a gray wood fence look new again?
In most cases, yes. A lot of the gray is just weathering, algae and dirt. Cleaning it off brings back much of the original color, and it’s the right first step before re-staining or sealing.
